Allergic reaction

Eethan had his first allergic reaction today. He really gave me a fright.

We went Kim Kopitiam for lunch and ordered to share a set of half boiled eggs with toast. I gave Eethan some of the eggs...He was really keen in eating the eggs and since he is closing his first b'day, I thought it is time to let him try some egg white too. The reaction came very fast!. Eethan started rubbing his eyes first and refuse to eat more eggs. (you know the things ppl say about how babies know when they wanna eat or not???). Then his mouth started to swell and his face was all red.  My immediate thought was.."Shit, allergic reaction!"

I carried him to the nearest pediatrician.. closed. I remember a few shop next to it has another... CLOSED. I ran back to Kopitiam Kim and told Eujin to settle the bill (yes, we haven't eaten at all!) and go straight to the hospital - A&E. Apparently pediatricians here all, ok almost ALL close on Saturdays..ZZzzzz..

On the way to the hospital, Eethan started coughing..!!! I was cool before this but then I got scared and lost my cool. I know how it felt having allergy.. coughing means cannot breath properly! Suffocating! I started asking stupid question or talking nonsense to Eujin - I can't really remember.

Luckily his allergy started going off when we were in the hospital and soon he was his own self again. I asked the pediatrician if it could be it being half boiled instead of hard boiled, he said it doesn't make any difference. Just need to give him more egg white in future.. in smaller amount to let the body get used to it.

My poor baby...
